All About Hashtags
A hashtag is any word on Twitter that starts with the “#” hash (pound) sign. Hashtags are also used across the web too -- on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and can be used as tags for blog posts, as well.
Hash tags make it easier for you to search for and follow contributions people are making about particular topics.
Hashtags are also an important part of Twitter chats! Each Twitter chat is linked to a topic of some type and, as such, has its own hashtag associated with it.
In a Twitter chat, every person who participates follows the chat hashtag over the course of one hour. Your task is to set up a search for that hashtag. To do so, you may use the Twitter application or you may choose to use a Twitter client (like Tweetdeck or Hootsuite, which we'll cover soon).
