Course Description

This course provides opportunities for application of an integrative, family-centered approach to the care of mothers, infants, and women. Emphasis is placed on normal growth and development, normal and high-risk pregnancies, family dynamics and the promotion of healthy behaviors. Focus is on the care of families during childbearing years, including both normal, and high-risk conditions. Integration of health promotion and growth and development, using the nursing process while applying Neuman Systems Model is explored. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe patient centered care to mothers, infants, and women in simulated and selected patient care settings. Prerequisites: NRS 200, 201, 303, 304, 306 Corequisites: NRS 230

To support Standard 7.1, I include a welcome message in which I clearly explain my role in the class and how students can contact me for additional support.

Below are excerpts from my course that specifically address learner support and resources. The student is introduced to several campus resources that would provide a variety of support. Including this in the syllabus lets my student know I am available not only as their instructor but also as a support person.

The syllabus is a Google doc. This is very helpful to me because each semester I can update or add to it as changes occur. .
The syllabus contains several links which gives the student more detailed information if needed allowing the student access to important and helpful information
